What does the Great Pacific Ocean have except for water?

We all are aware of the increased pollution in every part of the world. The garbage on the streets can be cleared up, the polluted air can be purified, the contaminated water can be cleaned from contamination but, what about the surface deep beneath the ocean?

The infographic below reveals the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGB) that is located between California and Hawaii. The name has been given because of a huge amount of plastic accumulation because of the intensified fishing in the Pacific Ocean.
The total area covered by GPGB is about 1.6 million sq. kilometers which is almost 2x times the size of Texas. On the other hand, the total plastic mass dumped into the ocean weighs equal to 500 jumbo jets. Isn’t it terrifying?

Around 52 percent of the total garbage in the Great Pacific Ocean contains fishing nets and gears whereas, 47 percent is the hard plastic, plastic sheet, and films.
